What is the PASS Program?
PASS (Positive Approach to Student Success) was founded on the belief that children and youth benefit both behaviorally from educational experiences with their non-handicapped peers and academically from participation in the general curriculum. PASS provides enhanced access to academic instruction from subject-area and grade-level teachers within mainstream settings to students with behavior issues. Students in PASS benefit from social learning opportunities with appropriate peer models, increased access to the general curriculum, and behavior support that occurs within the natural environment at the point of performance.
PASS uses proactive, rather than reactive, interventions. The program incorporates:
  • Positive Behavior Supports (PBS)
  • Scientifically based research practices and interventions
  • Student placement in mainstream settings where there is access to the general curriculum and highly qualified teachers
