Information Regarding Remote Learning During Covid-19

Dear parents and guardians of WWJHS students.  I just wanted to follow up with you about the remote instruction that will occur next week throughout TISD.  The key is to make sure that your child is signing into their google classrooms.  Also, visit the Remote Learning Page which will be uploaded to site this weekend.  Below is a “snip-it” of what TISD sent you earlier this evening:

Our remote learning site will be linked to our homepage this weekend. Please take the opportunity to access the site sometime this weekend and to review the resources that are available. On Monday, March 23, we will begin our remote learning activities.

• Students in Grades 1-12 will access their new classrooms through Google Classroom. Directions for access are located in the Parent/Student Academic Remote Learning Resources on the Remote Learning site.

During Week 1 of Remote Learning (March 23-26), students will become comfortable in their new learning environment and will engage in activities related to a learning focus. It is important to log in so that your teacher(s) know that you are up and running in our new platform. If you are having trouble or need assistance, please let your teacher(s) know. We will assess accessibility needs during Week 1 in order to formulate a plan to support families who may need assistance with a technological device. Information regarding this will be communicated during Week 1.

Please know that no grades will be assigned during Week 1 (March 23-26) for any course.

We are fully committed to making Week 1 of remote learning simply about getting acclimated and comfortable learning online in Google classroom and in all of the online resources that we have available for you.

I know that a lot of this information is review for you.  I just want to make sure that we are all "on the same page" as we work together for the success of our students.  If you have any concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s).  Remember we will focus on Quality of instruction instead of Quantity of instruction.

I hope this clears up any confusion or answers any questions that you may have!  I have also attached the 4 Core Content (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies) Remote Learning Letters that I have had each department create. Please read them as they go into more depth. ELA Dept Remote Learnng Letter.pdf  Science Dept Remote Learning Letter.pdf  Math Dept Remote Learning Letter.pdf  Social Studies Dept Remote Learning Letter.pdf

As we move forward through this process, just know that WWJHS is dedicated in providing the best possible learning environment for your student.  As we all know this is a change in the norm for education, but working together we can make great things happen.

Take care and blessings sent your way,

Bob Frost
