My Background

I graduated from Lamar University with a BS in Biology.  Right out of college I worked as a Quality Control Chemist for a company named ISP synthetic elastomers.  After moving to Houston I worked as a Lab Manager for a small company named Gulbrandsen Technologies, also concentrated on quality control.

My teaching experience began at Westbrook High School, followed by Kingwood High School and currently Willow Wood Junior High.  Out of my 15 years in education, 12 of those have been spent right here at Willow Wood.  I began working here in 2007 as the advanced science teacher for 8th grade and I have taught 8th grade science, IPC and Biology in my tenure.  When I completed my Master's in Education for School Counseling I transitioned to a counseling position in 2017.  I missed both my subject and the classroom, so in the 2018-2019 school year I returned to a teaching role.  I am hoping to use that experience to grow students not only in the subject matter, but also in study skills so they will have the tools needed to be successful as a PAP science student now and an AP science student in high school.

I enjoy the sense of community in our school and convincing students that science is the best subject out there :)
