  Parents and Students,
Please explore my website and become familiar with the pages. I will be posting important information throughout the year as well as homework assignments and upcoming tests.
To be successful in Math this year.  Your student will have homework to build skills and increase content comprehension. I incorporate technology in our lessons and will require the use of technology inside and outside of my classroom.  I provide additional support to increase content understanding with videos that are posted on my links page.
GRADE RECOVERY TESTS: Each nine weeks, students will be given one major grade recovery opportunity.  This will be a cumulative nine weeks assessment, given at the end of the nine weeks.  The grade earned on the grade recovery will replace ONE major grade, up to a 70.  Students must request a time to complete the grade recovery assessment with their teacher.  Please view these deadlines on the District Calendar. It is the Students responsibility to improve their grade and request the opportunity to take the grade recovery Test!
Tutorials are held: Tuesday  afternoons from 3 - 4 pm: a late bus is provided for students. Also Thursday mornings from 7 - 7:30 am. If a student requires additional assistance on other days of the week, tutoring appointments can be scheduled after school , but a parent or guardian must be able to pick up the student by 3:30 pm.
My conference period is 4th period and I would be happy to meet with you.  I do ask that you set up an appointment with me through email 24 hours in advance and let me know what your concerns are prior to the meeting.  This way, I can be prepared and our time will be productive.  Please feel free to e-mail me anytime during the work week. My goal is to return all emails within 24 hours Monday through Thursday.  lindaolivarez@tomballisd.net  My e-mail is NOT connected to my phone or home device.
Just a little about myself, I am a proud graduate of Texas A & M, WHOOP!
I obtained my degree in Bio-Medical Science and decided to make a change in 2006 to teaching. I have been teaching Math at WWJH for the past 10 years, I love teaching 8th grade Math. It is so rewarding when a student that has struggled with Math learns to enjoy and understand Math! My family and I enjoy traveling around the world and across the United States. This summer we escaped some of the Texas heat by cooling off in Turks and Caicos, a wonderful blessing to just relax and read and enjoy some beautiful blue waters. I am also a proud mother of two beautiful daughters and a wife to another wonderful aggie graduate.
I look forward to a very successful year and greatly appreciate your support this year. Parental involvement is truly a key factor to student success!
To become self- directed, independent, and successful life long learners.
