Absences and Attendance
Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.
Attendance Office 281-357-3030 Ext. 1237
The attendance office will open at 7:15 AM each school day. A student must submit a note signed by a parent or guardian within two days of returning to school in order for an absence to be excused. This note must contain the student's name, date(s) of absence, and the reason for the absence. A doctor's note is also required if the student is absent for five or more days.
Absence notes must be signed by a parent or legal guardian, therefore emails are not accepted.
Homework Request for Absences
As stated in the TISD Handbook, school work missed due to short-term absences (3 days or less) may be made up after the student is well and returns to school. Parents may request make up work resulting from extended absences by calling reception at 281-357-3030 ext. 1200 after the 3rd day of absence. No make-up work will be issued prior to an absence.
Students Leaving Early/Check out procedure
Only a parent or legal guardian may check a student out early from school. Parents check in at the reception desk and their child will be notified at that time to come to the front office. Students are not summoned from class until a parent is present at the front office.
